Application forms

There are 4 documents in the application; they all need to be filled out and sent back to Parenthese accompanied with your payment, a copy of your passport, of your student card and, if applicable, your residence permit. Parenthese never requires original documents: you can send us your application by fax, email our regular mail.

  • "Work and Travel USA" Application to be filled out by you and your school.

  • "Work and Travel USA Employment Offer Agreement Form" to be filled out by your employer

  • "Applicant Interview Form" to be filled out by Parenthese but the "Privacy and Confidentiality Release Form" part is to be filled out and signed by you.

  • "WAT USA Confirmation Form" to be filled out by you.

Please click here to download these forms.

If you choose to leave without a job, please fill out the "Application Addendum" as well and return it to us with the rest of your application.

  • Timeline

  • The countdown starts at the time when your application is complete and you receive a confirmation email from Parenthese. The quality of your application directly impacts turnaround time. Incomplete or insufficiently detailed applications will be systematically put on hold and their processing will be delayed.

  • Please note that the follow-up of your application is done only via e-mail.

  • Normally, your application will require 3 weeks to be processed. In other words, you will receive your DS-2019 form and your SEVIS receipt in 2 to 3 weeks after receiving the confirmation email from Parenthese. You will then need to 48 hours to obtain your visa from the American consulate.

  • The maximum 2-week processing time (reception of your DS-2019 and Sevis receipt) is guaranteed with an additional acceleration fee. If this turnaround time is not respected on our part, you will be reimbursed for the acceleration fee. Please note that there will be no reimbursement if the delay is caused by the employer.

  • SEVIS

SEVIS, or the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, was implemented by the US Department of State in January 2003 and is the database in which your exchange visitor record is recorded.

There is a non-reimbursable fee of 22£ related to the operating and maintenance of this database. The Sevis fee must be paid along with your program fees at the time you submit your application to Parenthese. Along with your DS-2019, you will receive the SEVIS receipt (I-797-C or I-901 form) necessary for the obtention of your J-1 visa.

    Employment dates

Please pay attention to the difference between your employment dates and your stay dates.

  • Employment dates: they determine the exact period during which you can work in the US. Thes job dates are specified on your DS-2019 form and your J-1 visa.

Job dates will be the ones specified by your employer in the Employment Offer Agreement. With the exception of special authorizations from your school, your job cannot start before June 1st nor continue after September 30th ; your employment period cannot last more than 4 months.

  • Stay dates: they determine the exact duration of your stay in the US. You can arrive in the US up to 5 days prior to starting your job and stay up to 30 days after the end of employment date specified on your DS-2019 form and on your visa. You will benefit from our insurance coverage for the duration of your stay.

Please note that your program dates are the dates of your stay, not those of your employment.
