On October 1st, 2020, the pause on J-1 visas (originally effective until the end of the year) was lifted by an injunction issued following the complaints filed by several associations, sponsors, employers and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This injunction is still in effect for Parenthese/CIEE participants who are not subject to the pause despite President Trump’s recent extension of it to the end of March 2021.
Our prospective participants can therefore still apply for visa appointments but they will still be subject to the travel ban and all restrictions due to the pandemic. Please keep in mind that we are also waiting for President-elect Biden’s inauguration in order to have further clarifications from the embassy regarding appointments and visa issuance.
Our Paris office remains open: We can assist you free of charge with your employer search and can process your applications! We have not increased our Euro prices this year (there is a very slight increase in our GBP prices due to the exchange rate) and will continue to fully refund you, should you have to cancel due to eventual future restrictions.
For more information, please refer to CIEE’s website or contact us directly.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
